The
Reindeer

One
morning 2 days before Christmas Eve morning I was going to school. It
was the last day of school. It was 7 o'clock and we were fixing to leave.
Then we got in the van and drove off. We were already at the gas station
but we didn't stop. Then my dad said, "Girls look! There's a deer right
in front of us. Give me my gun." I didn't want to so my sister gave
him his gun. So we all got out to go see the deer. My dad was loading
his gun. "Wait. Stop!" I yelled out to my dad. I went to go touch the
deer and he didn't even move or ran away. "Girls we better get a move
on. Or you'll be late for school!" my dad said. So I told the deer good
bye. When my sister closed the door she thought that I was in the van
but I wasn't!
I was hiding underneath the van so that
I can go back home and fix the deer up. So when they left I went to
see the deer again. I said, "C'mon lets go to my place you can get tidy
up." Then I pulled the deer and went on home with him. He was following
behind me so when I looked behind me when a car came he was still there.
I guess the reason why was that he was hungry and he didn't have anything
to eat. I thought will maybe he was one of Santa's reindeer since he
has antlers like the other reindeers.
By the time we were there I opened up
the door. I saw my mom so I came in very quietly in the house so she
wouldn't here me. Then I made a little noise that came from the floor.
"Honey are you home yet?" she asked. So when she turned I had to hide
somewhere. I hided underneath the table. Just then I saw the deer's
tail sticking out, so I quickly put it in with me. Then she was gone
and so I quickly ran up the stairs with the deer behind me.
I had seen his leg and it was cover all
with blood. So I got a towel and wiped the blood off of his leg. "There"
I said to him. "I'm going to call you Comet." He thought that his name
was a nice name. "Are you one of Santa's Reindeer?" I asked. He shooked
his head up and down like saying yes to me. "Will on Christmas eve night
I'm going to take you up to the roof somehow so that Santa can get you"
I said to Comet. By then I heard "Honey I'm home!" Oh know now what
it's my dad." I told.
"Hi honey how are you doing today?" I
heard my mom asked my dad. "Will for one thing when I went to Danielle's
school she wasn't in the van. We saw a deer on our way and so Brittney
was in the van but not Danielle." Oh know now what will I do I thought.
Then I thought the window. I can climb out the window and go to the
barn. So I went to the window and opened it. "C'mon comet lets go out
the window and into the barn." I said to him. He came to me and we both
got out of the house at the same time. "Lets go to the barn," I told
him. So we ran quickly to the barn and I opened up the barn door. It's
sure is warm in here, I thought. I was very tired and so I saw a bundle
of hay and got on it and fell asleep. The reindeer came to me and lay
down beside me.
By then someone came and opened up the
door. I waked up. It was my dad! Oh know now what? I grabbed the reindeer
but he wouldn't move! So I quickly hide behind a table so my dad would
not spy me. He went to a table that had all his tools on it. He grabbed
a hammer and some nails and went back outside. "Whoa that was close.
I'm glad he didn't see Comet." Then the reindeer waked up.
"C'mon I have to take you to the woods
so that nobody will see you and so that I can go to school." I said.
So I opened the door and looked to see if the close was clear. It was
so I got comet and took him to the woods. "Stay here and I will be back
in about 3hours and 30 minutes." So I went off to school. I was thinking
about the reindeer that someone might see him… but he would hide in
the woods.
By 12:30 I was at school. Ok relax and
be calm I told myself. I opened the door and went inside my classroom.
"Where have you been Danielle?" Mrs. Lancaster my 5th grade teacher
asked. "I…I slept late on accident." I told my teacher. "Will you had
missed social studies, reading, and science class young lady," she said.
"I know I know. I promise I won't do it again," I said. She said ok
and then I went to my desk.
"Where have you been Danielle I thought
you weren't coming to school," my friend Lydia said. "It's a long story,"
I told her. Now it was time for lunch and I was hungry myself. So we
went into the cafeteria and I was humming a little Christmas song. Then
Lydia came up to me in the lunch line. "So tell me about the story by
not coming in time for school," she said. "You really want to here it?"
"Why don't I?" she asked me. "Will cause
I thought you would think it was kind of dumb." So I told her about
the deer and how I got to the house and how I escaped the house. I told
her about the stuff when I didn't get in the van and all the other stuff.
She thought it was pretty cool about getting away and the deer but she
didn't believe me that it was a reindeer.
"So why don't you come to my house and
I'll show you the deer after school ok" I asked her. She said ok and
so then we went to our silent seats. We ate and chat a little and then
we had to go back to math class. By 2:45 it was time to go home. "Just
a minute everyone. Danielle I want to talk to you for just a minute.
Everyone else go home and merry Christmas to all," Mrs. Lancaster said.
"Be right back Lydia," I said to her. "Danielle listen look earlier
today, I'm sorry 'bout what I said to you. That doesn't mean that you
can come late again; just remember to set your alarm clock ok? Ok I
told her then I went back to Lydia. "So…" she said to me. "Will she
say to for get about and remember to set my alarm clock." So we walked
all the way to my house. When we got home I went to the woods. Oh know
Comet where are you I yelled out. "Comet?" asked Lydia. Then I heard
footsteps. "Lydia hide behind this tree with me someone's coming," I
told her. So she hides behind me and then I saw it. It was just Comet
boy he sure did scare me to death. "Lydia I want you to meet Comet the
reindeer the one that I've been telling you about in school. Remember?"
"Oh yeah now I remember," she said. "He's so adorable!" she yelled out.
"Shhh! Be quiet or my parents will hear
you," I said to Lydia. So she hushed up. Then we were quietly leaving
comet behind and took her home. When I got back home, I went inside
in my house. "Mom I walked Lydia home ok." "Without even asking me if
she can come here after school and that you can walk alone, I went to
go to your school to pick you up but you weren't there honey," she said
in a crying voice.
"I promise mom that I won't do it again.
Promise," I said to my mom. "Now shear up and I'll tell you about everything
that happened." So I told her and then she got frustrated at me. "Danielle
did you know that your dad was worried about you and that when he came
home he told me that you weren't in the van. We told you not to do that
again didn't we?" she asked. "Yes I know." "You are grounded young lady
for 4 days."
I sighed and then went on to my room.
My mom was really mad at me now. Tomorrow was Christmas Eve day. Tomorrow
night I have to take Comet to Santa but how. I thought and thought until
there was a knock at my door. "Honey its mom." "Come in mom." "Listen
about that grounding stuff forget about it. How about just be grounded
1 day what do you say?" So I told her ok and then she gave me a kiss
and left. Yes I'm only grounded on Tuesday I told myself. So I planned
on how getting Comet back to Santa tomorrow night. Then I fell asleep.
It was morning time and I finally woke
up. I quickly got dress and went outside. "Sorry got to go. I'm meeting
someone this morning." So I ran out the door and went to the woods.
I saw Comet and told him "tonight is the night that I take you back
to Santa. I'm going to miss you a lot." Then I went to go get him some
hay to eat. When I got back my brother was there. "Please I already
told mom and dad knows. So don't hurt him. I have to take him back tonight
to Santa," I told him. "And how are you going to do that?" he asked
me. "I've got it planned here in my head.
When everyone's asleep I'll go out my
window and take him to the front and stand there until Santa comes."
Then we went back inside. We played some and ate and had fun. Then it
was time to go to bed. I pretended to go to sleep. By 11 o'clock it
was time to get out of the house. I opened the window and went to get
Comet. "C'mon lets go." I said. We went to the front and waited.
We waited and waited, and then Santa
came. "Mr. I think that this is your reindeer." I said to Santa. "Think
you young lady. I was looking all over for him." Santa said to me. Then
I told him bye and then went back inside. Santa had to go down the chimney
and put presents down. I went to go lay down on my bed and went to sleep.
That was the Happiest moment of my life I thought!
